Tjorven Bellmann studied Islamic Studies and European Political Studies. From 2000 to 2002, she served as a junior professional at the Delegation of the European Commission to Israel in Tel Aviv.
She joined the German Foreign Service in 2003. Her first posting was as press and political officer at the German Embassy in Tehran. She then worked in the Press Division at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and as a press spokesperson and political officer at the German Embassy in Tel Aviv. Since 2013, she has served in various roles in the field of security policy and has headed the Security Policy and NATO Division since July 2017.
She has served as Acting Director for Security Policy at the Federal Foreign Office since September 2019. In May 2020 she was appointed Director for Security Policy and since January 2021 she also has been responsible for bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, North America and the EFTA States.
Tjorven Bellmann lives with her family in Berlin. She is married with three children.
