Alexander Schäfer is a Legal and Policy Officer at the Presidential Advisory Service I.D.E.A., European Commission. He works on the Future of Europe, EU institutions, disinformation, populism and other democracy and rule of law related topics. In 2024, Alexander was on leave from the European Commission to serve in the campaign team of European Lead Candidate Ursula von der Leyen as the speechwriter.
Alexander has a background in journalism. He studied law as well as some philosophy in Heidelberg and Cambridge (St. Catharine´s College). Alexander is an alumnus of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and attended the Young Königswinter Conference in 2016.
